Sandoz
Sandoz is a division of the Novartis Group and a global leader in generic pharmaceuticals and biosimilars.

Client’s requirements
In addition to the globally provided Business Intelligence solution, which Sandoz uses to meet its basic reporting needs, it was necessary to build local reporting to satisfy Czech legislation and the specific requirements of the local branch. Data on sales, inventory, individual rep plan fulfillment, marketing campaigns and other areas were collected from various external and internal data sources and then manually processed primarily in Microsoft Excel. This process was automated to some extent with the help of internal staff, but the solution was not complete and was not sustainable in the long term because it did not meet basic development practices and standards. The existing process was still highly inefficient in terms of labour and error prone. Therefore, the main requirement was to modify the existing local solution, extend it according to current needs and provide automated reporting that would be sustainable in the long term.
Solution
In the first phase of the project, it was decided to rebuild the internal reporting solution to meet common standards and best practices in the industry, to be error-free and as automated as possible. During this phase, the following was done:
Analysis of the existing reporting solution;
Analysis of the information needs of all users;
Building an architecture for the reporting solution to support the sustainability of the solution;
Building an automated solution for uploading data from source systems;
Development of necessary data transformations to improve data quality;
Modifying existing dashboards and adding additional information;
Development of new dashboards based on user needs;
Setting up a schedule for reloading dashboards;
Setting up rights for individual users;
applying industry best practices.
Benefits
The customer considers the automation of the reporting platform, elimination of human errors, speed of data provision and reduction of staff workload for regular reporting to be the biggest benefits of the work carried out. The saved staff time could be devoted to other activities to increase the company’s competitiveness in the market.
